Why It Matters Now: The Fundamental Years

The first five years of life are critical for healthy development. Experiences in early childhood build brain architecture that will be the foundation for all subsequent development. Like a scaffold built layer by layer, new skills and abilities develop on the groundwork of past brain development. Even though brains can change throughout life it's clear that supporting healthy development in the early years is fundamental to success in school and beyond,
and for lifelong health and wellbeing.
